Halloween 2026

I hadn't really made plans for a Halloween display, because our close friends were getting married the night of the 31st (I was a groomsman).  But I couldn't fight the urge to make spooky things and neither could the ghoulfriend.  The more we thought about it, we felt it was our duty to put together some kind of display to incentivize trick-or-treaters and to encourage the community to continue participating.  The way we see it, it's up to us to keep Halloween alive.

So with less than a week to the big night, the ghoulfriend and I set to work making decorations and putting them in her parents' yard--in a neighborhood that has seen fewer and fewer trick-or-treaters over the years, but has slowly been gaining them back.

I focused on the scarecrows and the lighting while the gf made this amazing archway out of branches.  We helped each other out here and there.  Over the course of a week, spending only a few hours each day  before and after work (maybe 15 hours in total), we were able to put together a humble display that we were quite proud of.

Happy Halloween!
