Rot and Jenna just released a teaser for their Halloween 2024 display, entitled "HAXAN"
I'm stoked. There are few creators that can garner such excitement from me just by showing a single prop. It looks wicked!

Begging for Candy by Pumpkinrot
After seeing many of Pumpkinrot's basement photos, I was reminded again and again of the basement scene from Mr. Jones. I (half) jokingly commented that I'd love to see a found-footage-style walkthrough of his basement... and to my pleasant surprise, Rot delivered!

"Man, I love Halloween. It's the most incredible and bizarre holiday. Strangers visit strangers for candy, and hopefully a scare. We mock death by putting out fake tombstones and corpses. We hang ghosts and witches and fake spider webs. We hollow out pumpkins to greet our guests with flickering features. We create tiny worlds on our lawns and porches. And we laugh when we hear the screams. And the screams always turn into laughs."

Still compiling this year's yard haunt photos, but first I have to share some exiting news:
Pumpkinrot has once again posted to his blog! Yesterday, on Halloween, he shared photos of his brand new display for 2021: "SAMHAIN"
Thematically, the display feels primitive and folky; A very sincere Halloween display (the title is "Samhain" after all)
I hope this is an indication of Rot's "regularly-scheduled" blog posts making a comeback, and a continuation of annual displays. But even if not, it certainly has cemented Halloween 2021 as the best in recent memory for me. I know I'm not alone when I say that I am relieved to hear from Rot.
