Vintage Halloween Schlitz Ads

Came across a couple of ads from the 1950's for Schlitz—a beer from Milwaukee that was once widely popular, now mostly known regionally by folks from the Midwest (e.g. my ghoulfriend's Wisconsinite family).

I just thought these were fun, given the Halloween imagery and my partner's ties to Wisconsin. I grabbed these images from some old eBay listings; they're decently high quality.  I might even print them out and hang them up!

Mr. Macklin's Jack O'Lantern

Mr. Macklin takes his knife 
And carves the yellow pumpkin face: 
Three holes bring eyes and nose to life,

Listening to: Blue Drag (1935)

Featuring Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli, founders of Quintette du Hot Club de France and the originators of the musical style that came to be known as "gypsy jazz".

"Blue Drag" was originally composed by Russian composer Josef Myrow circa 1932.  There have been several recordings by different artists before and after Reinhardt/Grappelli, but theirs remains my favorite.

For no clear reason, I've always associated this song with Halloween, imagining it being played at a vintage masquerade soiree.

Personally, I listen to it whenever I'm carving pumpkins... on loop.  It just feels right. *shrug*
